Study Guides for Tackling PMP Examinations: PMBOK, PMP Guides Including Mock Examinations

Guide to Tackle PMP Course

Candidates are well aware that the PMBOK which is published by the PMI is an excellent book which sufficiently covers the topic of project management, but it is not the only reading material you would have to go through to ace the examination. If you solely rely on it, you won't be able to tackle the dreaded exam. You would have to go through other books on project management.

There is just one problem there are no prescribed reading materials. That's where we come into the picture. We would provide you titles of books that will be extremely handy and would be on the topics that have not been covered by the PMBOK. Other than that solving the specimen papers would help you to score well in your examination.

SKILLOGIC Institute is one of the leading training centers for PMP certification training in INDIA.

The PMBOK Guide

PMBOK or the guide to the Project Management Book of Knowledge which is published by the Project Management Institute would cover only 80% of the total syllabus to study to sit for the PMP examination. Even if you are highly confidential, it is advisable to through this book at least once while preparing for the test.

The best part is you can download a soft copy of the book once you become a PMI member. The pages are encrypted and watermarked lest you distribute the materials. The PMI takes very seriously and is aware that you do not carelessly pass on the contents of the book somewhere else.

This guide is not lucid, and many lose faith and give up their PMP aspirations. This book is not the only bow in your quiver. If you cannot go through the book undertake the exam prep course and the other study guides that will be mentioned below.

Books for PMP Examination

There are many titles available. All are good so choose the one that is most suited to you and your needs.

Rita’s PMP Book - The 9th edition of the book is available in the market. The language is straightforward. There are a few things mention before you go through this book; it sometimes touches out a topic too much, it does not cover ITTO (Inputs, Tools and Techniques and Outputs) very well and the tone of the author is not always to everyone's liking.

Andy Crowe’s PMP book (How to Pass On Your First Try?) - This book is exam-oriented, and it resembles a notebook filled with study notes. It covers all the topics thoroughly and will help you pass the examination with flying colors. Whatever issues the PMBOK is failing to include, this book will cover for those areas, too.

Head’s First PMP Book - If you like illustrations, then this book is for you. It is filled with charts and games making it an enjoyable book to go through when you want to take a break from the monotonous seriousness that comes with the fact that you will appear for a PMP examination.

You will find the number of sample papers available for you to choose from. Try to get at least 75% to 80% questions correct. You may not be able to get this in the first try; solve as many numbers of papers as possible.
